It’s also another addition to the list of exhibits supporting my will-happily-die-on-this-hill belief that the second skill required by software engineers after basic competence in coding is empathy, aka the ability to see things from another perspective than your own.

You can’t always eat your own dogfood and physically experience your product/service from the sharp end, but if you can’t even try to imagine what that experience is going to be like, then sorry, you need to rethink your choice of career.
